I had to edit a previous post, apparently I've used too many links and am getting flagged as spam in new posts... sigh.

      @Lafunamor

Hi Yes I purchased this reader, the hardware reads the ring, it beeps and the light goes from red to green. however the software in that link does not read the NFC ring as a card.

Basically the hardware is fine, the software is not.

when going through the setup using the cards supplied it requires writing a certificate onto the card. Perhaps the card has enough space to store the certificate but the ring does not.

I had an idea about the carbon fiber rings. Could you place the carbon fiber as it's own stand alone inlay or covering on the sections of the ring outside the chips? It could be a center band or outside edge band. Maybe extend around the chip inlays in the case of the wider alpha rings. I imagine such a ring would go for a premium price on the store site.

Carrunstate is just an arbitrary counter for which mode the arduino should be in. Handbrake state is the only input that's of any importance in that sketch - but wasn't working properly. Possibly my code is crap.

@StefanG vcard is being added to the Control App, I had thought it was available already but it looks like not quite yet. Check back again after the app updates.

Looks like the market for them is really dead, perhaps someone should bump power7tech to see if they are stocking them :)

I'd imagine you could set up the arduino to rotate states so that the first read + delay will log you in and the next read + delay will log you back out again.
@Nairod785 is looking into doing this with a beetle and PN532 V3 board. The PN532 V3 should work well with the ring and the whole package using the beetle would be tiny. thread here

@Mel, can you sign up to be a beta tester and see if you get a later version of the app?
      http://blog.nfcring.com/dev/be-an-nfc-ring-beta-tester/

Once you're in the list you should be able to set up both apps to allow you to download the test versions.

Heh, I guess that'd do it too!
I just got my microview units so I'm going to be altering the car starter to incorporate one of those instead of the microduino, the microview has an inbuilt oled display, so I'll be able to do something nifty with that instead of the big string of LEDs across the dash to show mode.

Don't get me wrong. I like the style of your videos although the long ones sometimes lack a bit of structure. the only complaint I have is that the audio levels are a bit low.

If you need help let me know.

I don't see why the ring itself couldn't be tapped at checkout in the very same manner as a phone/tablet. Logistically, with the right internals this shouldn't be a problem, and would provide the ideal solution.

You would have to have an antenna for each size of ring. This would be painful. You would also have to tune that antenna to perform well in a ring function. Basically physics dictates our design.

What you want is doable but you would have to make sacrifices (in both security, read performance and cost)
