    • RE: Android Lollipop Trusted Device + NFC Ring = perfect

      @SwordFire said:

Tried the trusted device on the Samsung S6. For this particular phone, it unlocks immediately after detecting the NFC ring (without swiping).

This is now happening on my Nexus 6 It must be one of the recent updates. but good to know this is now a stock android feature :)

    • RE: Is it safe to use hand sanitizer (e.g., Purell) while wearing an NFC Ring?

@nickh I don't even think about that stuff any more. Iv used soap and hand sanitizer many times and iv never had any issues. Iv even got paint thinner on it without thinking. Mind you I have more than one so I'm covered if I do break mine.

@shama Thanks for placing this here then! I could not comment either...

I vote Yes on this as well. I would love to know which of my rings ( maybe both?) are causing the trouble...I've yet to find out that status of my particular order so any information in that regard would be VERY helpful!

I agree, I would love to know which of my rings is causing the issue and have the ability to change it.

    • Expectations VS reality

Its been a couple of weeks since I got my rings. I ended up with Black / Black instead of Black / Transparent like I though I was going to get. (this has been handled by support)

      Iv noticed the following.

      • If the colors are the same on both sides, you really need to program both sides to do the same thing, as the ring rotates a bit on your finger. I hadn't considered this but its obvious really.

      • I can unlock my phone most of the time first go, but sometimes It takes a second try, So its not 100% every time. (Nexus 5)

      • There is not enough storage to put all the data you want into a vCard. So for future products a little bit more capacity would be nice.

      • Trying to give someone your vCard through NFC, if that person doesn't use NFC on their phone every day is clumsy as you have to find the sweet spot on their phone. It doesn't really work well and is just a bit embarrassing when you cant get it to work or it takes a really long time. Iv given up on this. Its just too awkward.

      • The absolute killer feature is unlocking my front door with the ring. It feels magic :)

      • I really want to get my computers to unlock with the ring too. Thankfully there are resources on this forum to help with that. But that may require a ring with different colored sides so you know which side opens your phone and which side opens your computer. (waiting on stock to arrive to get that ring)

      • I'm actually holding off on buying a Microsoft surface Pro 3 because it doesn't have NFC. NFC has now become a mandatory feature on every future piece of tech I buy.

      • The build quality of the ring is so good that people are very surprised at what it does.

      • I would love if custom designs could become an actual product in the NFC store. With obviously higher costs and lead times to be expected.

    • Ring Swap

I know a few of us got substitute rings in the Kick Starter. I though it may be a good idea to do a Ring Swap.

So to start off, I have a Black / Black in size 10 that I may be prepared to swap for something else in a Size 10.

      EDIT - Classic not alpha

Yesterday at the races a girl said to me, "That's a really nice ring" she had no idea it was anything more than an ordinary ring.

Wearable tech is the last thing I ever expected to get compliments over.

so just wanted to say well done to the NFC ring Team for being the first company in history to make good looking tech !!!

@johnyma22 I will keep an eye out in future for the errors in regards to #5. As for door locks can you let the community know which door locks work with the payments ring and update this thread please ?

    • Using the Payments Ring in day to day use.

so whilst I don't use this ring every day (because it doesn't open doors) I have now had plenty of experience with it. Its fantastic to wear to the beach for example, because you can buy stuff and not be carrying about a wallet which can easily be stolen if left at the beach whilst your swimming.

In day to day use I have noticed the following.
      1- It generally works well.
      2- Its always a conversation
3- sometimes people think you are hacking them.
4- older readers or readers that are very scratched up, like touristy areas, near the beach often don't read well. I have had to take the ring off and place it on a reader once, to get it to read.
5- if it doesn't work first go it usually takes 3 (weird I know)
6- when it works first go, you completely own it and it feels cool. Its not so cool when it takes 3 goes.

    • RE: Differences between new OPN and Payment ring, besides the obvious.

@lokki I doubt it, after a week I chose my old 2013 ring over the payments ring.

(I had to go back to the 2013 ring because all my 2016 rings labels peeled off, and although I was given credit to get new ones, they are sold out and have been for a long time in my size)

Assuming I did wear both the payment and the onp, I hope they are different enough looking to tell them apart. I got black in both haha

I couldn't resits and ordered the OPN ring. but will still have to choose every day between one or the other, as I don't like wearing two rings.

    • Differences between new OPN and Payment ring, besides the obvious.

HI Everyone, I feel that there is one important point that is not really being advertised well in regards to the new ring.

Whilst its quite obvious that the OPN ring cannot make payments, it is not equally obvious that the payments ring cannot open doors etc.

This is one really important factor that should be made more clear. When I got my payments ring (Which I got through bank west but is confirmed as McClear technology) I was quite surprised that it did not work on my door lock, or some other door locks I tested at the hardware store.

Think about your most important use case. for me its the door, so at present despite owning a payments ring I have had to go back to my 2013 ring, (all my 2016 rings tags peeled off)

I'm considering the OPN ring but its very expensive. And I really did think the payments ring would be able to open doors as well as make payments.

    • RE: Door locks that work with the payment ring.

@Chris So I now have 2013 rings 2016 rings and a payment ring.

I've had numerous 2016 rings they have all broken (the tags peeled off) and Whilst I was granted a voucher on the NFC ring store to buy a replacement, you no longer stock any size 10 rings from the 2016 range at all, and now that I cannot use the payment ring with my door lock I have found that today for the first time I have left my payment ring at home and instead put my old 2013 ring back on.

I do hope you guys can resolve the issue of payment chips not working with door locks.

I can also confirm that the lockwood 001 touch also does not work with the payments ring.

It would be great if we could have an update from someone from NFCRING on this topic.
