It's not about "stealing" so much, it's more about an unnecessary disclosure of my personal information.
Historically speaking each time humanity gives up some privacy(for convenience) it comes at a cost. Imho it's not worth the trade off because biometrics have too many pitfalls.
Any authentication mechanism that can't be reset or changed is a security vulnerability. -- every security researcher ever.

Android L is due to introduce functionality that will allow a "sender"(usually the home owner) to write Wifi configuration to NFC Tags. When a recipient reads this tag (let's say it's the public portion of your NFC Ring) they will be automatically authenticated and connected to your Wireless network.
We probably wont get early access to introduce this to the NFC Ring Control app but users will be able to do this themselves by long pressing on a WiFi network(under WiFi settings) and selecting "Write to NFC tag".
We're due to publish an update about Carbon Fiber backers ring vouchers and we wanted to get some community feedback before we hit publish. This is the draft at the moment. Please share your thoughts / questions!

Qinetiq Zephyr - Stealth Bomber and Carbon Fiber Update
TLDR; You may be entitled to a voucher towards a replacement ring.
2 Years ago when we ran our campaign we introduced a ring called the "Stealth Bomber", this ring was a black ring with a Carbon Fiber inlay cover and it looked really great. During the production of this ring we hit three major issues.
The PVD plating looked terrible after a few months of wear.
The Carbon Fiber affected the read performance of the ring.
The Black on Black caused issues during the polishing phase causing high rates of visual QA fails during production.
Because of these issues we decided to stop shipping these rings and instead we issued a free place-holder ring. The Fiber issue also affected all of our Carbon Fiber rings so we decided to stop shipping those too. We had come so far and we were not willing to accept defeat. We always wanted to make a ring that looked exactly the same but didn't suffer from these failures. Today I'm happy to announce we can make these goals a reality.
It's worth noting at this point that we don't compromise on quality. We apologize for the delays but all of this time has been spent in development and fine tuning so we can introduce rings that have great performance and look even better than the original concept. I'm really proud of our new rings and I'm super excited to get to show them to the world soon. Naturally our backers are always the first to hear and as always have been vocal in helping to draft this update.
What will the voucher consist of?
We will issue you a voucher to the original order value of the ring from your pledge. So if you pledged £15 for a stealth bomber ring and we provided you an alternative ring, you will get a £15 voucher. Pretty cool huh? Collection folks will get the value of that ring from the collection, we value each ring from the collection at £15 so you will get a voucher of £15 per substitution.
It's important to note that the voucher will not be usable on Kickstarter (Sadly KS don't support this) and there is no way we can manage a different pledge level with discounts for these backers (Kickstarter limitation again). When we introduce the new rings we will introduce them on Kickstarter initially and as we hit our funding goals for each ring we will introduce them on the NFC Ring store so you guys can use your vouchers on them then. We will be shipping Kickstarter and NFC Ring store purchased rings at the same time so you wont get your ring any later than backers. What will be important is that you get your friends etc. supporting the Kickstarter project as that will give you more options to use with your voucher in the NFC Ring store. It also means we will get funded and we can make the new ring a reality!
Who is entitled?
Anyone who ordered a Stealth Bomber ring or Carbon Fiber ring and did not get a Stealth Bomber or Carbon Fiber ring.
But I ordered multiple Stealth Bombers/Carbon Fiber rings and I got multiple replacements!
Single substitution claims will be the easiest for us to process, multiple substitution claims will require database checking and may be delayed.

You can skip this paragraph, move along.. Okay, still here? We have 400 prototypes of our new ring and we want to give you guys first go at testing them in the field. The rings are all in one size (US 10). To get your hands on one we just ask you to post to Social Media with the hashtag #nfcringcan showing off how you use your ring. If you are lucky enough to get one of these rings we would like your feedback. Winners will be chosen based on the creativity of their application as judged by our community.
How will the next ring launch happen?

Hey guys just an update on this, I have been working w/ a third party to put together a solution for us. The experience w/ ACR122 & other readers is exceptional. This will take months to materialize so please be patient :) The third party afaik don't offer a consumer usage license yet so that's what I'm going to try to negotiate for NFC Ring Owners.
Technically inclined but shows how to exploit a specific POS terminal. It's worth noting not all POS terminals are created equally :)
I just upgrades to this lock and it's awesome, I hope we can get it on the store soon.
On previous versions of other Samsung locks you have to touch the lock first to wake up NFC, on this one you don't and this makes me very happy!

Agreed if it opened Samsung doors like the OPN et al then it would be great. It does work with some door locks and we have some partnerships where we're extending that but it's still annoying that Samsung don't seem to want to support the full NFC stack ;( We have reached out on several occasions but made very little progress!
More on 5 & 6 from the engineering side..
Disclaimer: Massively oversimplifying things..
The way the chip in the ring works is it ramps up power consumption from the magnetic field (inductive coupling) and then "attempts the transaction"..
The reader recognizes the ring in field, powers it up, the reader then requests the authorization for the transaction and this causes the ring to attempt to pull additional power from the field which unfortunately on those terminals is unavailable. So the ring at this point does a kind of "brown out" which causes a "debounce" type scenario where the reader will display something like "only present one card" or "multiple cards present", this is because the chip/IC in the ring essentially went back to step 0 where the reader wanted to be at step 3/4.
The fix put in place a while back by the reader company was to increase power available in the field after ring is detected prior to the transaction.. Obvious really but it was in line with the EMV requirements of supporting wearables at range across terminals.. It causes the terminal to use a tiny amount of additional power for the duration of the transaction but that's it.
Being on the bleeding edge has it's costs but we're all working hard to improve the infrastructure and the devices :)
So to improve #5 & #6 we just have to sit tight I'm afraid and wait for those terminals to be phased out.
@jasok2 if you can let me know the error you get when you try #5 I can validate my above assumption!

Each Jeweler will have their own approach, but let the Jeweler know the material is titanium and to add material to that. If you heat up the ring too much the epoxy will melt and the inlays will fail so be careful not to apply too much heat. It's usually a lot cheaper to just buy replacement rings.
A competent jeweler could remove some material in between the inlays I suppose :) I'd like to see pics of this if you do this.
RE #2 we have a team who work on custom rings. Unfortunately each ring is $10k+ as it requires management and hand crafting. See our Henry Holland rings as an example of this.
