Very Disappointed...
-
you could also root your phone and have a native NFC unlock. there are tutorials available in this forums just search for exposed framework.
can you provide a more detailed list of things you don't like in the apps so the NFC ring team can improve?
the NFC ring team is always happy to get feedback and implement community suggestions. As a side note: due to the announcement of Android L there was a stop in development of the unlock app as this could have been implemented in stock Android. There will be some updates soon that will improve the user experience significantly.

I think it should also be pointed out that whilst the performance with some phones can be a disappointment, there are other uses for the ring which make it an awesome piece of tech. Since i've been involved with NFC Ring I haven't had to worry about getting into my house, as my key is now on my hand.

Hi its my own personal exchange server, but please understand I totally get why its operating this way, my point is, as a developer my self, I take time to look at all scenarios within the confines of what the product will come across. And yes not all can be accounted for, but its easier when the product is already in the wild e.g. a Android phone that already has its functions available to to all to be known so this to be is unacceptable, but this is again just a oversight that I can resolve in time.
More importantly I have not received the rings I asked for!!
-
With regards to not receiving the rings you asked for, this was covered in updates.
TLDR; It wasn't possible to make the exact color rings you wanted or they were failing to pass QA. As a community we decided to stop producing these rings as it was delaying the project too much. We decided at that point to change these rings into the rings you received. Again this was fully covered and discussed in updates, you were given the opportunity to have your input.
We provided you with a discount voucher, free ring and a change from stainless steel to titanium to compensate you. We also pushed several app updates, new features and bugfixes during the time you were waiting.
Sorry you didn't get the colors you wanted, these things often don't go perfectly however we did do everything we could to make it suck as little as possible. Hope that helps!
Thanks!
PS in future K/S projects you really do have a duty to follow the updates, K/S is not a store, you have a duty as a backer to play your role.
Also video response... Gets my point across a bit better about where you are as far as your feedback..
-
Thanks for your video!!!
Please understand the whole experience has not the greatest.
- the constant updates with bad news basically put me off the whole thing to be honest.
- which is why I believe I probably missed any email regarding what to do about my changing my ring order again. Glad everyone grouped together to decide for me!
So help me to understand why I ended up with two rings being black/transparent and the other having both sides transparent?
Was it so bad that I couldn't just get something something closer to my order?-
In regards to my comment about the exchange server security policy of which i will express again, I am not blaming the ring!!! or the software!!! just disappointed, as it spoils the experience again.
-
apologies, i was referring too the Ring Control, took a while to figure out which one actually assigned the tags in the rings to be used for unlocking. I see now that the Ring Control let you program the tags for other uses. But again not clear on the outset when, perhaps I have been spoilt by other apps just being straight to the point.
More to the point, and let be clear on this,
I am NOT ungrateful, I am somewhat happy something has finally arrived, problem is its not what I agreed too, nor did I agree for anyone else to decide for me. So is it possible to get some control on what I want?
I don't mind about the colours not being available due to QA, but can I at least choose from what is available?
If another form was sent out asking this, I apologise for missing that, but I would of rather not received anything... to then have me then contact you complaining to then find I missed another change request because then I could of had the opportunity to change it again.
Hopefully I have made my self clear, cause if not expect a call in the morning! LOL!
-
Another thing...
as with all things text based, its easy to read into the words being used, and misunderstand the context which unfortunately has happened, so do please expect a call tomorrow for better clarification.
I say this because no you or anyone else understood my exchange comment, it was taken as criticism or complaint, when its not meant that way, just a comment on what I have found in my own environment, meaning its down to me to figure out, so the suggestions although are welcome, are also not necessary if my post was read properly. If it is not clear then my bad.

Hey Mrbrown, I'm with you. I know the carbon inlays were an issue, but to me they look kind of hokey with a black strip on one side, and clear on the other side. I have an iPhone and a Blackberry and I haven't downloaded the APP yet. This was my first foray into Kickstarter, and I'm relieved to say that other projects I've funded have gone considerably better.
Sending me an email and closing my support request made me even more unhappy, and who signs an email saying "you're awesome" when they know you're unhappy by the tone of your email? -
@mrbrown, I understand what you're saying about your experience re: exchange server policy enforcement. We can't expect the ring creator to work on so many different aspects of the use of the ring, so far he's provided us with a base that we can build on. While we find new and interesting ways to interact with things using the rings he can get on with the business of building better rings!
For the community as a whole it would be great if you and anyone else who did have an issue there were to look into how it could be worked with or circumvented.
This would benefit everybodywhether its a root option or some other method entirely at least we'll have that as part of the knowledge base.@Irene this thread is about @mrbrown's feedback and impressions and the things that we can do to make the experience better for everyone. It's really not about jumping on a perceived bandwagon for a round of back-slapping and sympathy feedback loops.
If you want to talk about your experience with support then go for it, we'll try to help out where we can, but remember that impressions and feelings are subjective things and we wont necessarily agree with you automatically. -
@johnyma22
@Lafunamor has an achievement unlocked: difficult nameyou did actually pronounce it right. It's La-fu-na-mor.

Yes, basically, when you got put off by the updates you missed a number of emails detailing what was happening with substitutions (because of the high QA fail rates).
You would specifically also have missed a **personal **email asking you directly how you wanted to deal with any rings in your order that were causing the delay. I can only assume if you didn't take that opportunity to engage in dialogue with support then they would just have given you what was readily available. So yes, you could have had control. You could have made the decision yourself rather than have others decide for you. And yes, you could have chosen from what was available. Maybe now you're engaging finally you can go through a returns process, but that isn't for me to say.
Out of all the ring options given at the start of the project, the ones shown on the current NFC Store are really the only ones that made it through the development process. I've got my fingers crossed that some more options appear (like a silver inlay) but time will tell.
