With Pride of Lion update comments

  • @johnyma22
    The post here ...
    http://blog.nfcring.com/unicorn/with-pride-of-lion-kickstarter-update
... seems to have an over-eager spam catcher in place. I've been able to comment before without problem, but it seems no-one is able to comment on this particular post.

Anyway, the point of the post: you asked for feedback on whether the 8% of backers who are still waiting fulfillment should be able to have a conversation with you guys and possibly change rings (if that is what is causing the delay).

My view is yes, because if some of the backers are like me then they'll be held up by a ring that wasn't one they actually ordered anyway! Two of the three rings I'm waiting for have been auto-swapped because of production problems (a double silver-CF ring and a Stealth Bomber), so if the replacements for them are what is causing the hold up then I'd gladly swap for anything else that is available. I doubt the SB replacement is the problem as that was just a grab-bag anyway, so my suspicion is that the auto-swapped white+white is the problem - especially after your post pointed some blame at white inlays. I wouldn't have chosen double-white (or even single white!) so to be held up by that doesn't make sense.
Also, while we're having a conversation about swapping a ring before fulfillment I might be able to request a size change on at least one of those rings. After having received a QA fail ring I think the sizes I chose in the order will be 0.5 too small ...

  • @shama Thanks for placing this here then! I could not comment either...

I vote Yes on this as well. I would love to know which of my rings ( maybe both?) are causing the trouble...I've yet to find out that status of my particular order so any information in that regard would be VERY helpful!

I agree, I would love to know which of my rings is causing the issue and have the ability to change it.

It did the same thing to me, I suspect you might have to log in on the site before commenting.

You can comment directly on update #45 on kickstarter now.

  • @Lokki still cannot reply to the blog post, not from my work, nor home, nor the coffee shop wifi down the road.

Perhaps just comment on the kickstarter update #45, John is watching that and taking note.

  • Still not working. Re-posting below...

I did receive an email on 27th June, 2014 saying I hadn't been forgotten. To be clear, that email stated that -- "We fully believe that we will be able to have your order complete within the next four weeks (hopefully sooner)."

So... what's changed in the last four weeks?

To respond with an alternative, I would prefer a more detailed email stating -

    1. my original backer order;
    2. what it has changed to now based on decisions made since kickstarter closed (fully aware of all the issues you guys have been transparently sharing with us all) - this detail is just for my own clarity;
    3. clarify which ring (or rings) in my order are causing the delay; and,
    4. what options are on the table to bypass the delays and get something shipped now - i.e. swap ring choices (to what?) change sizes? etc.

I agree this would be awesome :)

  • This morning I woke to a nice email, telling me my rings are on their way :) fingers crossed they make it before I disappear to Africa for a month !!

How long have people been waiting between this email and delivery ?

  • @jasok2 Feel lucky. :) I still haven't gotten anything on mine, but since I've gotten pretty quick replies when I've mailed support I'm not sweating it. Kind of all components of backing a kickstarter project, because you're contributing to the development of something, not an immediate reward.

  • Support staff et al, where do we stand with this?

  • I just got the email saying I'm in a holding pattern. It listed my order as:

    NTAG203-V1-NORMAL-T-B-B-9.5
    NTAG203-V1-ALPHA-B-B-B-14

Now maybe this means something to ya'll in the NFC Ring office, but it's a bit vague for me. At a guess, it looks like I'm down for -

    • a "normal" titanium ring with black+black inlays, size 9.5.
    • an "alpha" black-plated metal with black+black inlays, size 14.

Now as much as I'd love to consider alternatives, I'm not sure which of these (or both?) are holding up delivery? Also, what are my options -- just choose any other ring at all?

Without knowing more, I'm inclined to wait it out for even longer -- hopefully there is an end in sight. I'd be very sad to just end up with a refund after all this. Aside from all that, a visually-QA-failed ring so I can make some progress with my electric door strike + arduino/raspberry gadgets would be great! nudgehint* :))

    Hi @gth.

I just received the same thing and was sitting here wondering how to handle it.
    Personal contact = good.
    Vague details = whut?

To decode the two lines there, ignore NTAG203-V1- because that's what we're all getting at this point. This is V1 of the production ring.
NORMAL or ALPHA is the band type, first letter following is ring colour, next two are inlay colours, final is size.
so, Normal band Titanium with black + black inlays size 9.5 and Alpha band Black with black +black inlays size 14 just to confirm what you'd already figured out.

I completely agree with your response to the email too, it echoes mine.

    Dear Team

    • Which rings are okay
    • Which rings are not
    • What will you be changing if we allow carte blanche and
    • Would it perhaps be a good idea to confirm changes before shipping

I'm fine if things require changing, I've cruised along happily thus far. I understand that not everything has worked. But I would like to venture the opinion that this email does not do as much to clear things up as you may have hoped it would.

  • @gth I just replied to the email asking what specifically it is, otherwise I'll just wait.

I think it's the sizes honestly. Damn us for getting something bigger than a 10. hah.

  • @Lokki And dang you for confirming my fears that someone had changed my entire order to normal rings instead of the alpha-normal-stealth I had originally submitted as my collection. hah. Ah well. This is one of those cases where the wrong thing is better than nothing I reckon.

  • Community Helper

Hi @evilrobert, what's your order as it currently stands? (Before they tweak it to get it to you?)

  • @Lokki It's this: All normal, all identical. I think when the Jan. email asking for inlay colors and ring sizes was sent, my reply of "the same inlays and size as the normal ring you've listed in this email is fine" was misunderstood as "change all my rings to the same as the normal ring".

    NTAG203-V1-NORMAL-B-B-W-13
    NTAG203-V1-NORMAL-B-B-W-13
    NTAG203-V1-NORMAL-B-B-W-13

Whoa, yeah. I just stumbled on your other reply that had that listed. Did you bring that up when you replied to the email when you replied earlier? I think giving them the go ahead to change things can only help you in this case as there's no way you're ever getting three stealth bombers with one black, one white inlay. It'll be the white inlay that's killed it by the way, quite apart from the stealth bomber PVD issue.

  • @Lokki Nah, because I need to know if it's a sizing issue or not. I can't go down to a 12.5, and if 13's an issue 13.5 is definitely going to be one.

I knew we were losing the SBs, but I didn't know that they had dropped my alpha too. meh.

I still want to know who has the information in "NFC Ring Survey £50 The Collection - Ring sizes, metal colours and inlay cover colours", because that has all of my original requests. (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1z_3TumnkxXohHdgG3VQ_T5G-fpwFEOGHPsTUgPBOwmU/closedform)
