    • RE: With Pride of Lion update comments

      Still not working. Re-posting below...

I did receive an email on 27th June, 2014 saying I hadn't been forgotten. To be clear, that email stated that -- "We fully believe that we will be able to have your order complete within the next four weeks (hopefully sooner)."

So... what's changed in the last four weeks?

To respond with an alternative, I would prefer a more detailed email stating -

      1. my original backer order;
      2. what it has changed to now based on decisions made since kickstarter closed (fully aware of all the issues you guys have been transparently sharing with us all) - this detail is just for my own clarity;
      3. clarify which ring (or rings) in my order are causing the delay; and,
      4. what options are on the table to bypass the delays and get something shipped now - i.e. swap ring choices (to what?) change sizes? etc.

    • RE: With Pride of Lion update comments

I just got the email saying I'm in a holding pattern. It listed my order as:

      NTAG203-V1-NORMAL-T-B-B-9.5
      NTAG203-V1-ALPHA-B-B-B-14

Now maybe this means something to ya'll in the NFC Ring office, but it's a bit vague for me. At a guess, it looks like I'm down for -

      • a "normal" titanium ring with black+black inlays, size 9.5.
      • an "alpha" black-plated metal with black+black inlays, size 14.

Now as much as I'd love to consider alternatives, I'm not sure which of these (or both?) are holding up delivery? Also, what are my options -- just choose any other ring at all?

Without knowing more, I'm inclined to wait it out for even longer -- hopefully there is an end in sight. I'd be very sad to just end up with a refund after all this. Aside from all that, a visually-QA-failed ring so I can make some progress with my electric door strike + arduino/raspberry gadgets would be great! nudgehint* :))

    • RE: What would you think of a modular ring?

      Just have multiple rings. :)

You know us geeks are just dying for an "NFC-only" jewellery box, right? :))

    • RE: Deleted thread about 2016 ring?

Hrm, perhaps the earlier submission never completed at my end.

Appreciate there's going to be an email about when the voucher will be able to be used. Could have sworn one of the earlier emails had a store link though - something like store.nfcring.com/2016 or similar?

      Will wait for the email.

    • Deleted thread about 2016 ring?

I asked some questions on the thread that was discussing the 2016 rings, but now the thread has been deleted?? I was fairly sure it was a useful thread in its own right, and my late questions surely weren't an issue, no?

      1. Where can we use the vouchers? It seems obvious not on the kickstarter page itself.
      2. What happens to the vouchers if the second kickstarter effort fails to reach goal?

    • RE: Carbon Fiber vouchers Kickstarter update

      Got my voucher - cheers.

Some links send me to the store -- but the store doesn't have the new rings, and no mention of voucher, and doesn't recognise my login (which works fine here... I thought we moved to single sign on a while back?).

Some links send me to kickstarter - especially the http://nfcring.com/2016/ link that redirects to www.kickstarter.com , but none of the wording there implies anything about the voucher. It seems like rather mixed messages. If the (second) kickstarter fails to reach it's target are the vouchers still valid?

(PS: I still find this forum's visual style to be horribly unreadable & unintuitive)

So, back on topic -- what are the chances of a MediaWiki instance?

(PS: And maybe some keyboard shortcuts for the forums, like Alt+S for Submit)

    • RE: [Poll] What shall we do with the Q/A failed rings?

(Second option, in the second poll on the page has a typo = "grab gab sell" instead of "grab bag")

Maybe have them as a buy-one-get-one-cheaper option? Some kind of bundle deal so "real" sales still happen (rather than just a cheap stand-alone sale that lessens the reputation of all the NFC rings that are actually 100%) ?

PS: Just a quick point regarding the bounty offer for hackable guides and sending out QA fail rings: Hackers-who-are-backers > hacker-pre-orderers > hackers-who-haven't-bought-a-ring-yet. Just a thought. I'm about to get my hack on with some NFC stickers given I still have no ring, as I now have Arduino + NFC shield.

    • RE: NFCRing as a paintball marker activation device.

I've done some amateur paintball (hire everything, run out of paint, go broke, buy more anyway, etc ;) -- when you say "markers" is that a euphemism for the paintball gun itself? I'd think a short-term activation period based on a successful read would work -- otherwise you're in a continuous loop of --> nfc_read -> ring_detected -> gun_active --> (repeat).

Not sure how regular firearms would work -- on loss of battery, do you fail_enable or fail_lock?

off-topic -- Knowing the tech required to make the guns and what the OMCG have been up to, not surprised there's tight control here in Aust. If law enforcement saw your "other baby" sitting on a table, I think they'd definitely pop the cover on their holster until they confirmed what it was...
