got my collection in! my take so far...
-
I had actually relegated myself to the fact that I was going to be he very last to see them. And it was all cool by me. very happy to see them come in!
They work great so far, even through my Droid Maxx case. haven't setup lock or prgrammed them yet. didn't really need to unlock my phone with them. It would be difficult too because the sweet spot seems to be rather low on the back of the phone. Fitting is a bit off, but I don't think it's the rings, possibly more to do with my hands or the accuracy of the place I had them measured. Just a bit too big or too small for different fingers. I have found a happy medium with a couple that would only take a slight bit of finagling to fit a bit tighter and safer not to fall off. maybe a little sugru or epoxy a small filler material. Nothing to compromise the function of the ring. One is a bit bigger. I got it to maybe fit my thumb, or as a gift because most people I know hands' are larger than mine. I have smaller badger-throttling hands. I think I saw @John-McLear wearing one on his thumb. Is it comfortable and usable that way for you? I may put it on the chain as a backup.
The larger one has another issue. i wasn't too worried about having the same size, or color inlays. But in switching my original stealth bomber from Black with black CF to black inlays, the whole surface seems to be homogeneous except with just the right turn in the light. And being you have to be accurate with the turn of the ring on my phone, it gets tough to activate. I might suggest a couple things for your orer form if possible. if someone were to pick the same color inlays for their ring, maybe a script could be written to warn the buyer of the difficulty telling them apart and offer the choice to change or keep that way. Many people might not even think of that when choosing inlay colors. And if a black ring is still a choice, the same warning for having black inlays because their surface textures are so alike.
Good news is that I have schematics and almost all the parts to put together a starting circuit for my truck. i do need to get a quality breadboard for prototyping though.
Thanks @NFC-Ring-Team @John-McLear for such a cool opportunity to stretch my maker/hacking skills and my imagination with these rings. i would like to decide on one of my projects for the innovation thread and spare QA rings.
Wasn't sure how to upload the pics I took.

Mate, great news that you've got your collection! I use imgur to upload to and then add the images to the posts I make (it's all free that way).
I've noticed that sizing devices seem to be a little hit and miss when you add in the shape of someone's fingers, how big their knuckle joint is compared to the rest of the finger and whether the planets are correctly aligned. Your fingers may be slightly larger than normal if you've just throttled a badger, too.
It's a pain but at least you have a reference point now - assume the rings are right and if you ever need an upgrade in future use them as a starting point for comparison eh.
You're in agreeance with pretty much everyone who has actually had their hands on an original stealth bomber - they're a pain in the arse to use. They do look awesome though. I'm more than a little sad that they're no longer available even as I understand the reasons why.
I briefly attempted thumb ring as a concept and couldn't hack it, not with the classic band and definitely not with the alpha band. I just found it way too uncomfortable! I see plenty of people around who do wear them though so maybe I'm in the minority. -

You might need a slightly less grainy pic but still:

yeah, that's the best I got. I think my phone was having difficulty with it's focus. maybe the shininess of the surfaces was getting it confused. But you can kinda see how the surface of the black is consistent.

I'm thinking if I do get it to fit and wear it myself, then maybe a little nail polish centered between the tags on each side would allow me to gauge when the tags are directly above and below my finger. A different design on either side would allow to know which was facing up. Not sure how it would hold up though.
-
Yeah, my thought with the SB is to just program both sides into whatever it's being used for, like the unlock app for instance. At least that way which inlay is used isn't going to be an issue as long as that inlay is straight on.

I figured I'd add mine to your thread @LoganFive.
I got my rings! I have had my order changed, but that's ok - they're excellent quality and I'd completely forgotten how shiny the fresh titanium is after the hell I put that pre-production ring through...
It's just so nice to be able to program up my fingers again and once more use my NFC powers.
Thanks @johnyma22, @NFCringTom, Chris and everyone else on the team! -

Thanks @johnyma22, @NFCringTom, Chris and everyone else on the team!Ah so that's what The Collection looks like in the right packaging! Mine just came in a plastic baggy in a jiffy bag: no chain, no 'collectors box'. I did send support an email a couple of weeks ago about this, but I imagine they are busy.
Nice looking. -
Sounds like a bit of an oops with yours @shama. I'm sure they'll sort it for you. I'm wondering if we can get an update soon on fulfillment numbers, I always assumed I'd be pretty near last and it's got to be just about done with.
-
@Lokki Yep, it's been over a month since the last update from @johnyma22
-
@lokki glad you like the rings :)
@shama have replied to you today, we sent you some QA rings to play around with whilst you wait
We will be working on an update for the end of the week as John will be returning from his holls. We are down to somewhere between 6.5-7% unfulfilled KS orders at the moment.

@NFCringTom, definitely glad to have 'em!
It was funny, I just happened to be home, awake and fully coffee'd and got to witness the postman ride his motorbike up to my front stairs and hurl a bundles of parcels at the front door... I've never seen an AusPost employee do that, not ever, so I was slightly stunned. When I retrieved the bundle the Ring package was on the bottom of course. Luckily no damage and everything is good! Think I'm going to push that guy over next time I see him on his bike though.Looking forward to the update! We do love to hear how it's all going. ;-)

@NFCringTom Ok Tom, thanks for the clarification - I got the email today. Cheers.
