If you only have the stealth bomber then I believe that should be an automatic change to black from black cf.
Yep, Lokki beat me to it.

What rings did you have on order? -
RE: No Carbon Fiber?!?! What the deuce?!
Oh, John...
I remember there were a few early comments on Kickstarter from people who just wanted complete black.

RE: Note 2 not reading.
I struggle on my note 2 to get a lock sometimes. It has been mentioned on other post that rolling the ring can help.
More often or not it feels that the sweet spot can move sometimes. Crazy sounding I know.
I found the best place to get a read is in the top corner of the NFC reader on the back of the phone. -
RE: Samsung Galaxy Note 2
I just tried the alpha and normal ring on the note 2.
Both work well, but the alpha works a little better. I.e you don't have to hunt for the sweetspot as much. -
RE: NFC in the car
Back from the hols, got the gear and played with it last night. Took me a couple of hours to figure out spi protocol for the arduino as I had not used it before, but I got a working prototype in the end.
Really quite simple I guess in retrospect, now I need to work on the locking mechanism, friend has a 3d printer and a cnc, so might model something to be machined. I'm really keen to make sure it can be unlocked mechanically in case of bugs or power issues.
If anyone wants to know what arduino/nfc hardware I used or the what I used for the code, let us know. -
RE: NFC in the car
Just bought myself a RFID reader to use with an arduino to kick the little project off.
When I'm back on holiday I might have a little play :geek: -
RE: Where to buy NFC enabled locks?
Sorry guys, I assumed you were aware of the Samsung locks. Yea those are the bread and butter on ebay/amazon

RE: Where to buy NFC enabled locks?
I have been looking hard too, but it's hard to find.
My problem is, as most have in the UK, is the good old UPVC door.
For me to keep my house insurers happy I have to have a 5 point locking system on my door. There are parts that you can buy that will take care of the hardware side [url:2l6c9ui8]http://www.incelocks.com/product/security_a-opener_6-29720-11-0-1/[/url:2l6c9ui8] but obviously the NFC reader is not part of it. I could make an NFC reader I guess which is not that hard really but it all gets a little expensive by then.
Anyway if someone has other info to share...... -
RE: NFC Reader for Password
Hey there.
This was bought up in the NFC kickstarter page, so I can't take credit on this.
There are quite a few products that connect to the usb of a comp, but from what I'm understanding of your question is your looking for the whole hardware and software solution.
Asus [url:19n4fvo2]http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/NFC_EXPRESS/[/url:19n4fvo2] make this that may be what your looking for.
I will keep hunting to let you know. -

Ah yes. Wise words from master yoda.

RE: NFC to auto launch app and play media file on internet.
Hi. Are you talking about something like a youtube video or something else? Autoplay is something that is embedded in the page.
Possible? Probably. -

Voting
I know its not in the right topic but its the best I could do, hopefully admin will move. This is not an official voting system used by the NFC team and I'm not affiliated with them, the purpose is to make the picture accessible for everyone.
Colours are here:

Edit. Cant get enough options on the voting so if you want to, leave the the options listed below in a reply.

RE: NFC in the car
@gth. All those ideas sound slick and cool, and I'm sure modern vehicles adopt similar principles in their development nowadays. Its more about whether it's worth retrofitting an existing car with a reader to start the car?
I personally think the time, money and effort installing a car start system does not add up, you have to make sure you don't muck around drilling holes or cutting out dash parts and it's all returnable to stock when you want to sell the car. After some thinking, a security locked center arm rest fits my criteria, it's big enough to store electronics and valuables in the car, cool enough to quench my geek and not too much that my other half rolls her eyes at the mention of it
I'm kind of looking to install these parts as a standalone unit that fits under my center armrest. It should look completely invisible and can be removed quickly if needed.
When pay day comes I might look into this -
RE: Thinking about security
Good kick off to this sort of discussion.
I guess, as you have mentioned, it's impossible to be foolproof. However there are several things you could sort of do to make it harder.
I was thinking that every time you unlock your phone with the ring, could you use an app to rewrite the code automatically on the ring so that the unlock code changes constantly. This could also work I imagine with a suitable house lock, every time you unlock your phone, a new door code is rewritten to your ring and either through some algorithm or communication directly from your phone to the lock (data from phone to wifi lock sort of thing) the new code could change.A few good points have been bought up on Kickstarter already, it would be good to see the discussion carry on.

RE: NFC in the car
As cool as that sounds, I can't see the point of unlocking the car with your key fob, putting the key into your key barrel, turn the key into position 1 - power, for only then to then stat the car by putting your hand in a designated area to start the car. It sounds far simpler to keep turning the key that you already have your hand on to start the car.
Even so, it would look cool and you would earn major geek points. :lol:I looked at the adafruit [url:2lghjop2]http://www.adafruit.com/products/789[/url:2lghjop2] development shield which could be ok but expensive after shipping. Proto pic do one also [url:2lghjop2]http://proto-pic.co.uk/nfc-shield/[/url:2lghjop2] which is ok once you take off the arduino breakouts.
BTW where did you see John's car example?

RE: "Sweet Spot" on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Hi Akura.
You pretty much nailed it there with your picture. If you take of your back cover you can see the NFC Ariel on the back cover. The note 2 is lucky to have quite a large area for catching NFC.
My only concern is the ring on the finger will trigger all the time when holding the phone. More to the point is that annoying sound it makes every time.
If John, Tanya (Hi BTW ;) ) or the team read this, is there suggestions or development on your app that could restrict the notification sound?
Sorry for the little Hijack -
RE: Magic tricks
It's probably not possible to have the image come onto the phone as a wallpaper, the image has to be on the phone in the first instance. However if the images were on the phone it is possible for the ring to trigger a change in wallpaper. I use hdim detect in one app to trigger tasker to change another app that can change live wallpapers or normal wallpaper.
The ring itself probably cannot store enough data for a wallpaper image.
However you could use the ring to take your self to a URL that could have that image on it, but for it to happen seamlessly on a random phone could be tricky.
I would think a particular phone that was set-up right would be the best option.
