Not sure how frequented this forum still is. But I could use a haned looking for antennas for the keyduino and elechouse boards. One has to have a long enough lead to reach around from front door to the front for nfc door lock. Any ideas?

RE: DIY door lock.
@duncannfcring Looking at RFID enclosures was a good idea. Thanks!

DIY door lock.
I've had 2 projects in the burners and working them mentally the whole time, Now i could use a hand in finishing them.
First one is as DIY door lock. At it's inception it was going to be all individual components. But then I bought this from Sparkfun:
It's the Lockitron box without the microcontroller. The assembly includes the mechanisms to physically turn a lock, the motor, the housing, and the means to secure it all to a deadbolt.
My problem getting started is the construction and placement of an nfc sensor on the outside of the door. There is a metal plate around the door that may be used to hide an antenna wire. It may b easiest to do it wirelessly. Not sure of best way to do that, I have some Z wave boards, or could do a direct bluetooth connection. J ust found some rf boards that might work.
One the big question for you giys is whatmaterial to us to place the antenna in to get a good read. It will be in a cold enviroment, It's obviously just the face that i ask about. where the antenna will read codes. any ideas guys?

Flexible antennas
Is it feasible to use those flexible, low profile antennas that are typically used in smartphones?
I'm thinking in the context of both regular nfc boards and the Keyduino. I realize I would have to add the proper connector. Thanks! -
Incorrect shipping on the NFC store
@johnyma22 I really wanted to take advantage of the spring sale. Especially after missing the window to use my cf voucher. The site gives a link to go through the US site for better shipping costs. That link seems to just route back to the EU site. I did notice the "ref us" tag on the sites address bar, so I continued hoping it would give the US shipping. This was not the case. It still used EU shipping prices. The price was something around £9 +change. Thought this was a mistake and so I started again. Same this time except the shipping went up to £13 plus change. I really wanted to get the 2016 to go with 2 ongoing projects of mine, but wanted to make sure I didn't pay took much. I'm just now at the end of the sale able to get some extra cash together to get one. Also, are the rings going out now of the second production run? Thanks.

RE: [WIP] NFC car starter by MrStein
@MrStein I was wondering if the keyduimo can be powered off an "always powered" line iin my car and be low powered enough to not drain the battery?

RE: Why contactless cards are safe
@maz_net_au That article quoted by @Nephiel was about a specific technology in Germany. But even if a reader were compromised you don't actually send you bank numbers through. Just a one time use number for one transaction. Only the bank itself can translate that number in no your actual account number. No cloning, no reusing. That should keep the electronic theft numbers low. Using a Pin should also help keep the consequences of physical left low.

Congrats! (& questions)
Well done @MrStein! It's really exciting to see a project like the Keyduino in the forums go from your first prototype to backed project. Too bad it may missed the stretch goal. :( Will the antennas your going to offer be of your design? In my project planning I have a couple questions. I plan on using nfc in my car. Do you have an idea of the temperature tolerances for the boards and for the antenna? Is distance of the antenna lead a factor? If I use it as a door lock system, the antenna at least, and perhaps the board, will be closer to the exterior of the vehicle. I saw the one @johnyma22 uses. How does it hold up for you @johnyma22, and does it get very cold where you are? You wouldn't know it by the weather we've had lately (71f compared to the usual 31f at this time of year.) But it can get extremely nasty in the winter. Last year we had 9. 5 feet of snow by this time in the region. So cold will be a factor. There is a body panel on the trailing riser of my window I would use for the antenna to get a good signal.
Thanks again for sparking my imagination. My project ideas have most to do with replacing car and house keys as the nerve damage in my hands has made dealing with and using keys a PITA. ;)

RE: Carbon Fiber vouchers Kickstarter update
That's good to hear. It was smart to only offer a certain number of static designs this time around. Must have saved you a heap of trouble and time. About missing the expiry date on the voucher, I saw a similar post on another thread. I believe I should email support about that?

RE: Late Carbon Fiber Voucher/Ring Exchange
Same here on the late voucher order. I posted in another thread, and will also send an email in.

RE: Carbon Fiber vouchers Kickstarter update
I'm guessing the expiry was based on your time zone and I went by mine. Money is tight these days so I really had to wait until last minutes to be sure I would still have cash left for shipping. Crap, my bad on the time zone thing.
Another note, did you make any that were carbon fibre and transparent? That was the one design I was hoping for. But the antennas on the new inlays look really cool

RE: Carbon Fiber vouchers Kickstarter update
I know it's last minute, I had to double check with several places at different times to get an accurate ring measurement. But I didn't see a spot to put the voucher code in at checkout. Did I miss something?

The video for the project is fantastic! Is the only way to get 2 is the package with the relay shield?

Beautiful! When do you go live Mr. Stein?

RE: Why contactless cards are safe
As I understand it, unlike the contact less that is being passed out, both nfc payments and chip and pin/signature payments use tokenization. So even if your cats were skimmed, or info intercepted, the number holds no card info and only good for one transaction. So no card copying or multiple transaction of any size can be performed. I read that US card companies will have the choice of chip and pin or signature. Pin would be far safer of course.

@MrStein Glad to hear the project is running on time! This board has me waiting with anticipation like crazy!

RE: KeyDuino, Arduino NFC (PN532+ATMEGA 32U4) by MrStein
That's great to know. I want sure if a USB device had to identify itself as otg compliant. I will definitely be hoping on that bus when the project opens.

RE: KeyDuino, Arduino NFC (PN532+ATMEGA 32U4) by MrStein
@MrStein Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions. But one of my projects would be made easier using an android phone for the installation. Hence I was wondering if the keyduino could be used on an otg cable to provide reading for the phone. It would be far simpler than using a board like the IOIO-OTG. And, of course, wondering if either of your boards were ready to get ahold of yet? Thanks again for such great hardware fodder for my hacking imagination.

RE: KeyDuino, Arduino NFC (PN532+ATMEGA 32U4) by MrStein
I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, or if it is a given @MrStein, but I take it that your board will also program tags? Was trying to think if it would be possible to program a system in which tags other than the ring could be reprogrammed each time it's used. Kind of like rolling rfid tags.

RE: KeyDuino, Arduino NFC (PN532+ATMEGA 32U4) by MrStein
@MrStein Thanks, it's good to know. I'll have to take a closer look at the seeeduino tft touch screen I was contemplating using. Your board does get me excited about the possibilities.
