    • RE: Note 3 - not reading?

      @paulguy

      Yeah, when I had my ring, it was very difficult on the note 3 for the first day or 2. Basically didn't work at all. Once I got used to it though it was alright. Usually only took a couple seconds to get it to unlock with an occasional failed read. I imagine all phones will have some amount of that which sadly I guess for a lot of people isn't acceptable. Things must work as they do in the movies where you just tap it and it immediately knows your intent and works. :p Anything RF/inductive will never be that way...

      I still can't get it to read (and the NFC tags I bought on Amazon [i:2l5lyubk]do[/i:2l5lyubk] work immediately

      @johnyma22

      The best thing you could do for us is record some video of you trying to use the ring on the note3 and also showing us the inlay working in the same video. This way we can ensure the ring is oriented correctly, if you can create that video and upload it to any video sharing website and hit me up with the link that'd be great :)
      I might have to come up with some complicated arrangement of mirrors in order to do that, as the Note 3 is the only device I have that can record video :D I'll certainly try all the different ring orientations first, though.

      @itzdarkoutthere: doh, never thought of that, despite having used iOS devices for ages before I got the Note 3. Thanks!

      Already done that, thanks :D

      Incidentally, I'd scanned the spare tag into the NFC Ring Unlock program and tested it. I then disabled security enforcement as I didn't want to carry the spare tag around. After the last auto-update, it re-enabled security enforcement without being told to!

      Fortunately you can type your gmail credentials to unlock, otherwise I would have been severely stuffed. Bug in the update, perhaps?

      (Incidentally, how do you [i:49micime]delete[/i:49micime] a tag from the unlocker? I can only find the disable option…)

      I can still only get the spare tag to read. Anything actually in ring form doesn't work for me.

    • Note 3 - not reading?

      I can't get my NFC Ring to read at all on my Note 3. I've verified that NFC is working on the phone by installing Smart Card Buddy and successfully reading my rail smartcard with it, but even after uninstalling Smart Card Buddy I can't pick the ring up with NFC Ring Control.

      According to the docs a help screen is supposed to appear after a while — it doesn't. It just sits saying "hold your NFC Ring to the back of your device" and then never reads it.

      What could be going wrong here?

      [b:3l1s3h3b]Update:[/b:3l1s3h3b] I power-cycled the phone and now it will read the spare tag that came with the ring — but it won't read the ring itself!
