Is the NFC ring compatible with the fido u2f standard?

No, the NFC Ring is not a FIDO U2F device. If you are looking for one, I recommend the YubiKey Neo. Beware! Full support is not available as of right now.

Also Ubikey just dropped open source so good luck with support for that in the future...

Are there any plans for a future version of the NFC Ring with fido u2f compatibility?

@johnyma22 Their source is still on github. What do you mean they dropped open source?

If you want to try an inexpensive u2f device this one is $6 and has been working for me (except under Linux, but I think I can fix that). Some of the Amazon comments suggest fragility if kept on a key chain, but I keep it tucked down in a corner of my wallet and it has been working since Christmas.

That's very sad. I remember when I got my first YubiKey several years ago and was able to play with the tools, since they were open source.

                    Anyways, things come, things go.
