How to uninstall the app

  • I have a major issue with uninstalling the app on my Nexus 5. I've tried every tip i found on this, but it allways shows hat some security features have to be disabled first. They are disabled but it's still not possible to uninstall the app.

Besides this it keeps activating itself even though i have no keys active. Which is a MAJOR ****UP! Have been locked out of my phone twice by now and could only get in by rebooting it and logging in before the apps are booted.

the uninstall should work if you disable all the features in the app.
open the unlock app then go to 'device security'

    • click disable on the top right corner
    • disable the device admin by clicking on 'manage device administrator' -> 'disable'
    • disable 'use with no lock screen'

then uninstall the app by going into settings -> apps -> unlock pro -> uninstall

I suggest you setup a PIN under 'application security' -> 'manage application passwords' -> 'PIN'
so you don't have to restart the device

    Hope this helps
Please leave me some feedback if it worked

  • All those options are allready switched off and still no chance to uninstall.

then you should be able to uninstall it. according to my tests it's the device administrator feature that blocks the uninstall.

@Michael-Schlesiger - please note, I've edited your original post due to the swearing. I understand it's use in context but I still need that to not happen again in a public forum.

If you've done these things and are still having difficulty uninstalling it go to your phone settings, apps, nfc ring unlock, click force stop and then uninstall from there.

  • co.mclear.nfcringunlockpro does not offer the option to stop it nor to delete it from phone settings...

this means it's in device administrator mode. you need to disable the device admin by clicking on 'manage device administrator' -> 'disable'

If @Lafunamor's suggestion does not work (i.e. it is disabled in the app settings), you may need to go through the Android settings to disable administration. It'll be under something like Security -> Device administrators -> NFC Ring Unlock. I have never experienced such behavior, but have heard cases where you must go through the Android settings to manage administrators for security reasons.

  • Yea, the strange thing is, that it's devinitely deactivated in the app and i double checked it in app manager.
As the app kept popping up and blocking my phone i've now just used the factory reset option to get rid of it. (Yep, it's activating itself even though i have no rings set up as keys etc)
