Any updates on shipping?
-
South Florida here and so far just a order confirmation. So not yet but soon, i hope.
-
I don't even have a confirmation email, so you're light years ahead of me!
-
@mbucky32 you should have received an email with subject "Confirmation of your NFC Ring Order" around the 8. of march on the mail address you've used on KickStarter. The mail should have your shipping address and the ring choice(s) as content.
-
Do we know when we can expect a KS or Blog update on shipping the remaining KS rings? It would be great to get a view of what is left to ship and what has been shipped.
-
I just received my shipping confirmation email this morning. I would assume that it should take about 1 week to get to my front door (if shipped from within CONUS).
Considering that I originally ordered a CF inlay > transparent inlay, that means they are past the delay for rings with transparent inlays. I also changed my ring size twice post-survey (once because for some reason the survey itself captured my wrong ring size, second time because I requested the change), so that also delayed my original order. I'd say that most of the rest of the rings should be delivered by end of May?
-
@lilrayman, there's an update in the works, it's just being re-written to help address some of the most recent queries about status of deliveries among other things.
@asbath, that's great to hear. It all depends on the postman now! We'd love to see some photos of that first unwrap of a transparent ring in all it's glory. -
Can't wait to see the reason for how it's taking so long now. It's getting a bit ridiculous that we have to keep waiting for this. Even some micro updates or something would be better then the wait between updates and ones that don't exactly say much either.

Hi @stearic
There hasn't been an update directly from John because he has been travelling to the US to check in on the distribution center there. There is an update in the works from John, via Tom and the others but it is waiting on some final revision before it is released into the wild. This will happen when the team get a break from picking and packing kickstarter rings which are still being delivered. If we consider things rationally for a moment and think back to previous updates we can understand why there may be delays for the backers who remain now - as I believe that a large portion of backers have now had their pledge rewards delivered. We simply don't tend to hear from those who don't encounter problems and this is thus not a good indicator of the actual state of things.
Some things which will affect delivery of the rings and will have resulted in what we're now encountering with the final deliveries are, as follows and has been stated many times before: carbon fiber changes which necessitated changes to orders and went to the back of the queue at the factory, transparent which required different inlays and went to the back of the queue at the factory and finally any QA failure which gets resubmitted to the factory at the back of the queue. That last part is the one which I believe affects most of the unhappy people.
So if your ring is late, if it is in this last last batch, then it may be because the one which was ordered from the factory failed and the order was resubmitted and went to the back of the queue. It will be manufactured and then sent to the distribution center for QA testing which is I gather a little more discerning when done by the team who will then either pass or fail the ring. And if it fails again, then it's back in the manufacturing queue. If there were less ring types and choices then it would have been easier because an excess of XX amount could have been ordered per type of ring, but with the inlay choices and styles that were available in the kickstarter this is unfortunately not a realistic approach.
In order to maintain a quality product this is unavoidable, and really you'd be a lot unhappier to get something quick and dirty. On the whole I don't really find any of this to be either ridiculous or an excuse. It's simply attention to detail and pride in a product by the team combined with a rather unfortunate approach to manufacture by the factory.
-
@Lokki I understand all that, but even minor updates are how things are going or the possible status of ones order would go a long ways to keep people happy. As for a a large portion of the backers getting it, i must be in the minority of those who haven't gotten theirs yet.
-
I understand being busy. The post was more of a check in. Here's hoping my transparent shows up soon! I'll be posting when I get mine since I think I'm the only one experimenting with the One Max
And that the carbon fiber issue works out eventually lol. I really dug the carbon/transparent combo

I haven't received this email yet. The wait is killing me, I even have my digital door lock and NFC receivers for my computer ready to go. I know my order will be near the end as I got 2 rings on kickstarter and one of them was carbon fiber which is now a transparent one.
It would be nice if there was shipping progress post on here that was updated by someone in the know every few days of where things are up to.

@stearic , @RevInstant , @jasok2 , Unfortunately guys, the Team is a dedicated but small one and there really is only so much you can make a person do before they give up and collapse. They've done pretty well so far and I know that it's just this final little stretch that is causing the most upset with people. But we will finally come to the end of the kickstarter orders... and then the pre-orders after that should be comparatively easy because of there only being the 4 types of rings for preorder. I think I've seen that one mentioned too, probably on kickstarter "but if this is how the kickstarter is, how are the pre orders going to be". With only 4 styles of ring the pre-orders should be a breath of fresh air after the complexity of the kickstarter orders.
And hey, if you've got everything ready to go and are at a loose end maybe you could invent something and share it with us. -

Shouldn't be too long for you. I too had a CF ring which I changed to a Transparent one. I also changed my ring size twice, but I received a "shipping confirmation" email this week. Hopefully you'll get your ring soon too!

Morning all,
Sorry for asking but no one else seems to have done so. I ordered the 3 ring pack that included the stealth the standard and the alpha ring. With the complexity of multiple ring orders I understand you leaving till the end but I'm wondering have you started shipping them yet? I'm trying to beta test the apps and found 4 or 5 bugs but I could do so much more with an actual tag. -
Hi @LittleJohn , I'm not sure whether the 'Collection' has started shippng yet or not. I'm waiting on one myself, and expect to be pretty much last out the door due to CF changes, request for Transparent inlays and all else. I would imagine that getting a collection ready is going to be frustrating for the dispatch team, especially if 2 are ready and 1 is a QA fail for instance. There may be mention of this in the update to come.
Are you reporting your bugs etc in the app? The ring wont change much except where it's readable on the phone. -
@Lokki Why don't you post information from thes "queue" you've been talking about? Better yet, email me privately about the history of my own Kickstarter order. I'd like to know how many times it's been kicked back because or problems and where it is now in the queue. That would help me a lot more than a bunch of generalities.
-
What would have been awesome (but pointless now this far into the process) would have been an old style count-down counter. As orders were shipped the number would have gone down and everyone could see how many orders were still outstanding. Ah well, 20:20 hindsight is always great.
-
@Lokki yeah I meant collections just couldn't remember the name. I'm reporting to the Google group for the beta tests as there are 3 different places, but I have done some through the github. I just don't have any nfc tag that the app can register as a tag
-
@mkabala, we can only post information that we have access to, @Lafunamor and I are volunteer help. I've passed on the link to your other post so hopefully we'll hear back on that one soon.
@shama, as you say 20/20 hindsight and the team has already limited what can be preordered so that they wont be hit as hard by those when preorders start being fulfilled. It'll limit the madness and make things a lot easier to deal with.
@LittleJohn, using the google group and signing up on the beta tester links will give you access to the latest test builds. It's well worthwhile as long as you're happy to report any bugs. My backup key at the moment is a mifare classic swipe card, I didn't have any issues using that as a key with the app. They're also insanely cheap on ebay, it'd be a good way to start trying things out (bearing in mind that there's basically no sweet spot or need for one with a large NFC card). -
@Lokki thanks I'll dig a spare one out
