    • Microsoft Surface Go

So I noticed that the new Surface Go will have NFC, this is a first for the Surface line. I wonder if we can get ring opening magic happening on the Surface Go when its finally released.

    • RE: Using the Payments Ring in day to day use.

@johnyma22 I will keep an eye out in future for the errors in regards to #5. As for door locks can you let the community know which door locks work with the payments ring and update this thread please ?

      Cheers :)

    • Using the Payments Ring in day to day use.

so whilst I don't use this ring every day (because it doesn't open doors) I have now had plenty of experience with it. Its fantastic to wear to the beach for example, because you can buy stuff and not be carrying about a wallet which can easily be stolen if left at the beach whilst your swimming.

In day to day use I have noticed the following.
      1- It generally works well.
      2- Its always a conversation
3- sometimes people think you are hacking them.
4- older readers or readers that are very scratched up, like touristy areas, near the beach often don't read well. I have had to take the ring off and place it on a reader once, to get it to read.
5- if it doesn't work first go it usually takes 3 (weird I know)
6- when it works first go, you completely own it and it feels cool. Its not so cool when it takes 3 goes.

    • RE: Differences between new OPN and Payment ring, besides the obvious.

@lokki I doubt it, after a week I chose my old 2013 ring over the payments ring.

(I had to go back to the 2013 ring because all my 2016 rings labels peeled off, and although I was given credit to get new ones, they are sold out and have been for a long time in my size)

Assuming I did wear both the payment and the onp, I hope they are different enough looking to tell them apart. I got black in both haha

I couldn't resits and ordered the OPN ring. but will still have to choose every day between one or the other, as I don't like wearing two rings.

    • Differences between new OPN and Payment ring, besides the obvious.

HI Everyone, I feel that there is one important point that is not really being advertised well in regards to the new ring.

Whilst its quite obvious that the OPN ring cannot make payments, it is not equally obvious that the payments ring cannot open doors etc.

This is one really important factor that should be made more clear. When I got my payments ring (Which I got through bank west but is confirmed as McClear technology) I was quite surprised that it did not work on my door lock, or some other door locks I tested at the hardware store.

Think about your most important use case. for me its the door, so at present despite owning a payments ring I have had to go back to my 2013 ring, (all my 2016 rings tags peeled off)

I'm considering the OPN ring but its very expensive. And I really did think the payments ring would be able to open doors as well as make payments.

    • RE: Door locks that work with the payment ring.

@Chris So I now have 2013 rings 2016 rings and a payment ring.

I've had numerous 2016 rings they have all broken (the tags peeled off) and Whilst I was granted a voucher on the NFC ring store to buy a replacement, you no longer stock any size 10 rings from the 2016 range at all, and now that I cannot use the payment ring with my door lock I have found that today for the first time I have left my payment ring at home and instead put my old 2013 ring back on.

I do hope you guys can resolve the issue of payment chips not working with door locks.

@chris, Thanks for getting back to the community on this. I certainly really appreciate it, you have probably just saved me a ton of time running around lock stores trying to test my ring with every lock I could find.

I can also confirm that the lockwood 001 touch also does not work with the payments ring.

It would be great if we could have an update from someone from NFCRING on this topic.
