Hi guys!
After some discussion with John about the disposition of QA visual failed rings, he's once more shown his (and the NFC Ring Team's) crazy generosity!
Whether you are an original kickstarter backer, a crazed inventor or a sentient houseplant with talents in the field of making we would like you to share your inventions here with a reward of one ring per demonstrated invention!
I know, it's crazy right? But it's real. If you invent 12 awesome things and share them with us here then you will receive 12 QA visual failed rings!We ask that you start a thread on the forums concerning your idea and share the build with us, providing code and diagrams where possible so that others can also build based on your ideas. Pictures and video would be great!
I will need you to help out with the cost of postage and packaging but will keep that to as much of a minimum as possible.So, NFC community, start your inventing engines and GO!
Please note, these rings will be a random assortment in size and style and will have visual defects that prevented them from being used to fulfill paid orders. They're not perfect but they're still awesome!

We will also accept useful guides, how-tos and FAQ in various forms - message me or reply on this thread to sort something like that out!

Would a tutorial on writing a simple Tasker/Trigger program for Android to broaden the NFC ring functionality count for this? Something like my phone reads the ring and depending on several variables, it does something or something else... : )

What kind of functionality are you specifically think of? Tasker is pretty straight forward, mostly just a bunch of IFs and ELSEs, but if you went and wrote an Android app from scratch... that might have a better chance of counting than just a simple script

Ooooh, I'd very much like to create a plugin for NodeBB so that you can log in with your ring. It'd be kind of like the SSO you guys have on here, except physical.
No clue how much work it'd take, and I'd need to get an NFC reader, unless there are some dev apps I can use on my phone...

I'm kinda leaning towards allowing anything that contributes meaningfully to the community. The main post says invention but what we want most is to take over the world... Or just make everything interact with a ring, be it through hardware or software. We don't want 30 copies of MrStein's exact car starter, but I'll allow 30 different ways of doing it!
Software to utilise the ring would be excellent, I think that'd be great if you could set it up to do the single sign on thing @julian.
@DogTag, I won't stop you from doing anything, it's just got to be worthwhile, something that benefits everyone in the community. -
I support @Lokki here. I think the real world impact of contributions are subjective and we really should encourage all experimentation at this point.

Just to be clear, we want well written guides (with screenshots/pictures please!) for general use of the ring as well as other things like projects to build and software that utilises the ring for various things.
Post in here and tell me what you're going to do, I want to see some action and need to give these rings to contributors! Don't be shy! @DogTag give us a guide with your script and make a seperate thread in here for it and I'll send you one! @julian if you write your plugin I'll do the same! -
Do I get one for my Visual representation of how to orientate the ring to a phone through the medium of MSpaint.

Lol, sure. But you're gonna have to do a nice set of written instructions as well for each panel, can't be confusing people. ;-)

I've started handing these ones out, MrStein will get a few, Nairod gets one (he's shown me his work in progress and where it's at and will do a full write-up and share shortly), and one of the visual fail + inlay fail rings has winged it's way towards a galaxy S5 for testing.
If you want one, put your hand up for it, tell me what you'll do and lets make it happen!
